In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said to Peter ”…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Christ was not referring to a building but the assembly of believers, the Body of Christ.
Throughout the New Testament, there is evidence that the gathering of the Body of Christ took place in private homes. It likely revolved around the dinner table (Acts 2:46) and did not involve the formality of today’s churches.
What most churches call ‘connect groups’, we call church, simply because we believe as Christian’s we are meant to do life together! Rather than a quick hello on a Sunday morning, we believe that the purpose of church is to deepen our faith and edify the body of Christ. So whether its over a BBQ or a picnic in the park, let’s regularly dive into the Word of God and do LIFE together.
